Ombre DYI Disaster

Hey girls so over the weekend I posted a tweet on twitter saying that I was going to attempt to “Ombre” my hair for the second time. The first time I tried to attempt the ombre trend I used FAT FOAM Light Golden Brown hair dye which did absolutely nothing to my hair. I failed, so I decided to use Revlon’s Frost & Glow for the second attempt.

Let me just say The frost & glow will definitely lighten you hair, BUT if you’ve never dyed your hair a lighter color or have little or no experience using bleach on your hair then avoid at all costs! I’ve never used bleach on my hair before and even after hearing how damaging it could really be I still decided to give it a try to attempt a successful ombre on my locks.

Well surprise surprise! I failed miserably! I ended with a tiger looking style instead, it really damaged my hair & I think I may have to cut it :(

This weekend I will be re-dying my hair in order to try to match it to my natural hair color with hopefully no tiger patches in sight, otherwise I would have to go a full black to get my hair a whole solid color which for me would not be ideal since I would hate to look like the girl from beattle juice since my skin is so fair lol.

*Have any of you guys ever had a hair disaster? If so let me know about it in the comment section xoxo ♥

  1. Have you been to see a hairdresser? I would use a really deep conditioner like Aussie 3 minute miracle to get some moisture back in. I’ve had a few hair disasters, the worse was when I died my hair red but I ended up leaving it on too long and it turned orange! It was horrendous and I couldn’t stop crying lol!

I found you via the blog hop btw :)

    • I never really go to a hair dresser because I always end up unhappy with the results but next time if I want to try a hair trend involving hair dye I should go lol :( I heard about the Aussie 3 minute miracle but haven’t purchased it yet maybe I should give it a try! I’ve been using organic coconut oil to help repair my hair & give it moisture. Thanks for checking out my blog & leaving a comment xoxo ♥

  2. Oy Oy, I’m so sorry to hear that. I’ve been dying my hair myself ever since High school. I even tried giving it blond highlights without having a clue about the right measurements and what not. I just did it and …. I looked like a skunk with blond highlights. NOT GOOD. The above commenter is right. Treat your hair with some vitamins and a good leave-in conditioner. It’ll go back to it’s old state. I’ve heard olive oil is good too, just once a week orso. Leave in for a couple of minutes. It helps it grow & condition. I tried it once, but don’t take my word for it :P

  3. I used that exact box of Revlon trying to go lighter and OMG I will never try to do that on my own again. My hair turned orange and instead of going lighter I had to dye it really dark. But it’s a beauty lessoned learned lol. Don’t worry your hair will go back to normal.
