Hi guys! Today’s post is featuring a decoden artist I’ve been admiring over the past few months now. If you have not heard of My Time is Sweet then your definitely going to love what you see. Sonja Sky’s unique cellphone case’s are extremely cute & some even look delicious lol.
Who is Sonja Sky?
“Born, Patricia-Sonja, she is a 2011 graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts, History. She is also a Presidential Classroom Scholar, Georgetown University, 2005.
She was recently accepted to Grad School for her Masters in Humanities. Sonja currently owns her own company “My Time is Sweet“ making custom decoden cell phone cases and accessories. She is also an avid graphic design artist and youtube vlogger.
She currently resides in her birth place of – Sunny Southern California. She’s a Lakers fan and supports the Raiders. She steams from a family of professional athletes/coaches and musicians. She is mainly influenced by God, Family, & Friends.”

Melissa-Emily: What inspired you to create such unique cellphone cases?
Sonja Sky: I needed protection for something I valued. My iphone was an investment and without protection it meant nothing. I’ll admit I was scared. I didn’t want to sit my cell phone anywhere because it would always end up on the ground. I look at those scratches now as a sacrifice because here I am making cases. Thank you Steve Jobs, lol.
Melissa-Emily: Were you always this crafty & creative or was there a changing point in your life that led you to explore your creativity?
Sonja Sky: (I called my Aunt/mom, she raised me, and I asked her) she said, “Yes, I was always a dreamer.” From what I can remember I’ve always been a part of the Arts. I was a professional lyrical dancer as a teen, I have done some modeling, and now I enjoy doing graphic design, marketing, and curator work in museums.
Melissa-Emily: Where do you see you & your company in the next 5 years what are your goals, aspirations & deadlines?
Sonja Sky: We want to have our own retail shops in major cities/capitols in America, UK, and Asia. I want to work and partner with other talented Decoden Artist across the globe.
I also would like a Decoden factory (just one in the USA)…not a sweat shop…more like Willy Wonka’s factory – where we, decoden artist, can promote arts to under privileged children and adults. It’s a way we can give back to art education because today’s businesses want creativity, imagination, social skills, and someone who can just think outside the box.
I will have my Master in Humanities and I want to live/travel aboard.
Melissa-Emily: How long did it take for you to be where you are now & what would you suggest to those looking to pursue their dreams?
Sonja Sky: It took a ton of time and hard work. I’m pretty much a one woman show right now…I need help. I didn’t do it by myself. I’m thankful to my bestfriends, Justin Manley of jdmfresh.com who got me started on a business plan and he keeps me motivated, Michael Coleman helped me write those savvy product descriptions everyone loves, and Tierra Bynum who was my 1st customer, she continues to buy and promote my products. Most importantly, my God Mom who took me in when I found myself homeless, she allowed me to take a year off from school, and live rent-free until I really built up ideas for MyTimeIsSweet and got into graduate school. My God mom encouraged me to keep all my decoden supplies because I had thrown away almost everything I owned when I became homeless. I managed to keep my decoden items…that’s all I had. I gave up a lot for this company, a lot.
I would tell anyone looking to pursue their dreams, find good people you can trust and will support you. Everything is a dream until someone makes it a reality. Be that someone in this world.
Melissa-Emily: Let’s talk beauty, what is your must have cosmetic and/or skincare item?
Sonja Sky: I’m an organic girl and It takes a few must-haves: Olive Oil, Baking Soda with water for exfoliating and salt, apple cider vinegar/water/2 cloves of garlic for toner, pure Shea Butter for moisture, or I just Carrot soap/oil on my face does it all.
Melissa-Emily: & last but not least what are some of your fave spring beauty trends & will you be showcasing some of your favorite beauty trends with a spring cellphone case line?
Sonja Sky: I love the Native American patterns and I did want to rhinestone a case with those patterns or an ipad case. I love the play on one bright color spilt up by 2 solid/pale colors. Neon colors are in this season along with cabbage rose. I LOVE CABBAGE ROSE. I haven’t found a way to implement those into any designs.
